Intercommunity Mercy Housing was founded in 1991 through a collaboration of five women's religious communities based in Washington State. Within a year, the organization decided to partner with Mercy Housing Inc. IMH has developed and currently owns 43 properties (1,727 rental homes) throughout Washington, from Puget Sound cities like Bellingham, Everett, Kent, Tacoma and Olympia to central and eastern Washington towns like Yakima, Chelan and Cheney.
Drawing on our founding communities' 150-year history of service to the poor in Washington State, and on the Northwest spirit of collaboration, Intercommunity Mercy Housing is the local presence of the national organization. We work toward the common Vision through the shared Mission because we believe our joint efforts are the best way to deliver the most enduring and relevant services to Washington State residents.
