WWII Veteran Leonard holding his awards  World War II veteran Leonard found himself struggling with financial and health challenges while living alone in a trailer at the age of 85.

When his wife died after 62 years of marriage, Leonard found himself depressed and lonely.  He wanted to move but lacked the resources.

Fortunately, Mercy Housing Lakefront built Countryside Senior Apartments.  As the apartments rose from the ground, Leonard found his hopes rising.

He visited the building daily during construction; the day that he moved in, Leonard felt “like I was in heaven … it was a big relief.”  Leonard continues, “I really don’t think that I would be sitting in this chair today if I hadn’t moved in here.  I think I’d be long gone.”
