Mercy Housing Northwest - Washington

Family Tree Apartments

Family Tree Apartments, completed in 1994, was one of the first projects undertaken by Mercy Housing Northwest. The property is home to more than 330 residents and is made up of 151 affordable apartments including 22 one-bedroom, 100 two-bedroom and 29 three-bedroom units. Family Tree serves households earning at or below 40 to 60 percent of the Area Median Income.

Family Tree Apartments features a community center, on-site day care facility, two playgrounds, a basketball court and a computer lab. Family Tree also offers its residents a variety of resident services, including a homework club, parenting classes, financial literacy classes, job skills training, a toddler group, family dinners and other community and social events.

Mercy Housing Northwest has been fortunate in establishing a great partnership with the Sound Families Initiative of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and has reserved 15 apartments for families making the transition from homelessness to rental housing. The families participating in this program receive individualized case management services provided by the YWCA and participate in the YWCA’s Pathways Program, focused on life skills and economic development.
