Ending Housing Discrimination

This week, Mercy Housing celebrated International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. Under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 1 states that “all human beings are free and equal and deserve dignity and rights.”

A big part of Mercy Housing’s works is to ensure that no one falls victim to housing segregation or discrimination. This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the Fair Housing Act, an incredible piece of legislature that changed our country for the better and continues to be cited to protect against housing discrimination. As a nation, knowing how we’re protected by the law is vital to preserving the freedoms and liberties that have been diligently fought for.
