Feb 19“If My Kids Are Happy, I’m Happy!”
Being a single mother isn’t easy, especially when you have to move with rising rents and low rental availability. Cortney has lived in Lincoln, Nebraska her entire life. After a divorce, she needed to find a home for her and her two kids, while getting adjusted to working again after years of being a stay-at-home mom. She knew that it was essential to find a home that was close to everything that the kids needed — their dad, schools, and family. Thankfully she found Mercy Housing Mountain Plain’s Northglen Apartments.
“I’m a full-time mom, and I do some in-home daycare as well. I love having my own place here at Northglen Apartments that I can call home. For me, home is a place where you can feel comfortable, safe, and happy.”
“The property manager has been VERY helpful — this was the first time in 12 years that I’ve had to figure out a living situation, and this time, I have my two kids to take care of. The property management and resident services people here are some of the nicest, greatest people I’ve ever met — I’m very thankful for them. When we moved in, I was going through big changes and they were always someone I could talk to about housing or personal stuff, and that was so helpful for me.”
“My kids go to a lot of the holiday events here and the Resident Services program has a kids club that my kids love because they can do crafts and hang out with all the other kids. My daughter is four, and my son is nine. He loves reading. My daughter is very social. We live in Lincoln, Nebraska — all our family is here. I have good support around me. It’s so nice here because we’re close to family, my kids’ father, and just across the street from my son’s school.”
“If my kids are happy, I’m happy — and they’re very happy here. I want to ensure that I can always provide for my kids’ future so that they’ll be entering adulthood prepared.”
