DENVER — Housing, racial, and social justice are at the core of Mercy Housing’s mission. With nearly 40 years of experience and a presence in 41 states, they serve over 45,000 residents with low incomes through affordable housing with services. The creation of this role reflects the organization’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that the communities they serve are racially equitable and inclusive — continuing their Racial Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (REDI) team’s work, and reinforced in their 2020-2024 strategic plan.

Systemic racism has disproportionately hindered communities of color, and Mercy Housing’s REDI team guides the organization to infuse racial equity, diversity, and inclusion into all their policies and practices. Mercy Housing’s REDI team’s focus areas include:

• Resident Services: Pilot inclusive resident meetings that build community to promote inclusion, equity, and Mercy Housing’s core values of respect, justice, and mercy
• Administration: Incorporate racial equity into Mercy Housing’s core value of justice. Embed racial equity into values-based behaviors and annual performance reviews
• Property Management: Review all community rules and regulations through a racial equity lens
• Affordable Housing Portfolio: Require a racial equity analysis for each deal in consideration
