In partnership with Sound Transit, the Amazon Housing Equity Fund, and The Arc of King County, Mercy Housing Northwest broke ground on our sixth equitable transit-oriented development in December. Mercy Angle Lake Family Housing will showcase 130 new affordable, energy-efficient homes, with dedicated residences reserved for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. The community offers convenient proximity to the Angle Lake Light Rail Station, ensuring easy accessibility for residents.

This innovative, housing community is being developed with the financial and organizational support of multiple partners. To address the need for equitable transit-oriented housing throughout the region, Sound Transit, the regional public transit agency, has committed to selling excess land initially required for the construction of light rail stations to nonprofit developers at a discount to create permanent equitable transit-oriented housing.

The Amazon Housing Equity Fund contributed a $17 million low-interest loan and a $2 million grant toward the development.

With support from the State of Washington Housing Trust Fund, King County, Washington State Finance Commission, and the King County Housing Authority, Mercy Housing Northwest and The Arc of King County are partnering on an innovative model for integrated, affordable housing with supportive services. The community will have 26 apartment homes reserved for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities and their families. Referrals and onsite support will be provided by The Arc of King County.

The Angle Lake community will also include The Arc Legacy Center, a new 11,000 sq ft. ground floor headquarters for The Arc’s expanding operations, supportive services, family support, and program administration.

Mercy Angle Lake Family Housing is scheduled to open in May 2025.
