As we step into 2026, we’re thrilled to introduce the new name for our latest affordable housing community in Denver: Cranes Landing — formerly known as 9th & Navajo St.

Why Cranes Landing?

We selected the name to reflect themes of resilience, renewal, and community, three qualities Cranes Landing will represent. Cranes are symbolic of hope and longevity across many cultures, aligning with the project’s mission to provide stability and opportunity for families and individuals, including formerly homeless residents and members of the American Indian/Alaska Native community. The name also evokes a sense of arrival and belonging, an important aspect of this development’s vision.

Indigenous community members shared that circular gathering spaces evoke a deep sense of belonging. That guidance informed our decision to make this space a prominent and carefully stewarded part of the Cranes Landing expression.

With an estimated completion date of December 2026, Mercy Housing Mountain Plains has been working with RATIO Architects and Amatoolik as we continue to engage with the neighborhood about this project. The design and construction of Cranes Landing have been intentional from concept to completion. The exterior will resemble traditional Native patterns and bold colors. Outdoor areas will align with the cardinal directions — the four primary points on a compass. Inside, a central gathering circle will serve as a welcoming space for residents and community members.

Major Highlights

We celebrated the topping out of Cranes Landing in November with lunch with our subcontractors. Additionally, the Denver Broncos announced plans for a brand-new stadium in very close proximity to the community.
