Strengthening housing stability in Sacramento

Mercy Housing California (MHC) is proud to recognize the Sacramento Association of REALTORS® Charitable Foundation for its ongoing commitment to strengthening communities and expanding opportunities for families across the region.
Guided by a mission that prioritizes stable housing, community well-being, and support for underserved populations, the Foundation focuses on helping provide shelter, delivering resources to low-income families and at-risk youth, and fostering livable, sustainable communities — values that closely align with MHC’s work.

Since 2018, the Sacramento Association of REALTORS Charitable Foundation has awarded MHC four grants, supporting programs that create tangible, everyday impact for residents across Sacramento County.

Investing in youth success

Funding in 2018 and 2023 directly supported MHC’s Youth Programs in Sacramento County, which provide safe, structured environments where young residents can learn, grow, and build confidence. Through this support, youth have gained access to after-school enrichment, academic assistance, and mentorship opportunities that help improve school engagement and achievement. These programs also offer leadership development and life-skills training — equipping young people with the tools to navigate challenges and envision brighter futures.

Strengthening families through resident services

The Foundation’s more recent grants in 2024 and 2025 are helping expand resident services programming at MHC’s family properties in Sacramento programs that meet residents where they are and respond to evolving community needs. With this support, families are accessing:

  • Educational support, including homework help and literacy activities for children
  • Financial capability resources, such as budgeting workshops and connections to benefits
  • Health and wellness programming, promoting both physical and mental well-being
  • Community-building activities that foster stronger connections among neighbors

These services play a critical role in housing stability, helping residents not only remain housed but also thrive. For many families, they provide a pathway to greater economic security, improved academic outcomes for children, and a stronger sense of belonging.

Through sustained and thoughtful investment, the Sacramento Association of REALTORS Charitable Foundation is helping turn affordable housing into a platform for long-term success. Their generosity fuels programs that uplift youth, empower families, and strengthen entire communities.

With the support of partners like the SAR Charitable Foundation, Mercy Housing California is advancing a shared vision where every family has both a stable home and the opportunity to thrive.

Mershad Khazari, chair of the SAR 2026 Charitable Foundation Board, shared:

“The Sacramento Association of REALTORS® Charitable Foundation was proud to partner with Mercy Housing California in support of their important work serving individuals and families throughout our community. Together, we are helping create greater housing stability, opportunity, and hope for those facing housing challenges across the Sacramento region.”

Mercy Housing California is deeply grateful for the Foundation’s partnership and shared commitment to ensuring that Sacramento families have both a safe place to call home and the resources they need to build brighter futures.
