Oct 13Record-breaking turnout at the 15th annual Ann Birhle Feel Better Challenge
Mercy Housing Lakefront’s Ann Bihrle Feel Better Challenge is an eight-week summer program and promotes the health and wellness of more than 100 permanent supportive housing residents each year. This year’s challenge had a record number of participants, culminating in a special celebration at Brookfield Zoo with nearly 120 residents in attendance.
Through this program, Mercy Housing Lakefront staff work with residents individually to assess their health behaviors and set individual goals.
Residents engage in friendly competition for points earned through activities, including exercise groups, walks through the city, nature hikes, healthy cooking demonstrations, and nutrition education. They are also encouraged to host their own activities with their neighbors to earn more points for their building.
We are so excited to see a growing number of residents learning how their routines and social involvement play a role in their mental and physical health.
