About Casa Verde/The Islander
Casa Verde is an adaptive reuse of the formerly blighted 68-room Islander Hotel in San Leandro, Calif. This transformative development provides 68 mostly studios, with a few one-bedrooms sprinkled throughout, in a well-designed contemporary-looking apartment community.
Amenities include management offices, community room, computer room, outdoor space with patio, BBQ and draught tolerant landscaping, on-site parking, and laundry rooms. Extensive green building strategies were used, including solar panels, Energy Star appliances, efficient water fixtures. Abundant air flow, natural light and a connection to outdoor spaces permeate the atmosphere.
