Mercy Housing Northwest - Idaho
For more than 30 years Mercy Housing has been providing affordable housing services to the communities of Idaho. We own and operate housing for adults and children who lack the economic resources to afford decent, safe and quality housing opportunities at below market rates.
After much careful consideration, we have determined it necessary to consolidate our Idaho operations. This will result in the closure of the regional office in Eagle by the end of February 2015, with oversight of our continuing activities in Idaho from our Seattle and Denver offices. We will maintain staff where possible, but unfortunately this includes the reduction of several staff positions in Idaho.
We have distributed a letter to community partners with more information about this decision.
Idaho has special significance for Mercy Housing because some of the organization’s first affordable housing was developed here, under the able leadership of Sr. Mary Terese Tracy.
We are glad to say that we will continue our presence, though reduced, in Idaho. We will continue to own and manage 190 existing units of affordable rental housing in five properties in Eagle, Boise and Moscow, with an Area Director of Property Operations based in Eagle. We will continue resident services in Moscow. We plan to sell three of our family-housing properties in Nampa.
The overarching goals of Mercy Housing’s service-enriched housing model are to help families achieve stability and then to increase that stability. These goals directly support our mission to create stable, vibrant and healthy communities. We accomplish these goals through a dedicated and highly-motivated staff, extensive community partnerships, a network of caring volunteers and generous community support.
