Help Us Build The Hub

Mercy Housing California’s Build the Hub Capital Campaign provides individuals, foundations, nonprofit partners, and businesses with the opportunity to change the lives of Sunnydale residents. Unique among our construction projects, Build the Hub is primarily a fundraising effort. We need your help so the children and families of one of San Francisco’s most under-served communities can enjoy the resources they need — and deserve — to thrive.

Pledges may be in the form of cash, publicly traded securities, or other readily marketable assets, payable over up to five years. To learn more and make a gift to the Sunnydale Hub, contact Shashi Jivan at SJivan@MercyHousing.org or 415.355.7128.

Residents of Sunnydale and the greater Visitacion Valley neighborhood enjoy activities led by Sunnydale Youth Center and Resident Services staff in partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco at a backpack giveaway this August. When the Hub is completed, hundreds more young people will enjoy daily education and recreation activities in state-of-the-art facilities under the guidance of skilled mentors and youth development experts.

Two children, a girl and a boy, picking new books from a table. A little girl wearing a pink hoodie and mask alongside her father, who is kneeling down, who is wearing a button up shirt and glasses, both smiling at the camera with the little girl's new backpack in hand. A young boy with a red shirt is pictured making blue glitter slime.

WHY WE’RE HELPING
Supporters of our Build the Hub Capital Campaign care about ensuring that Sunnydale’s residents have everything they need to thrive. These valued partners have paved the way for better health and wellness, strong community connections, and new educational opportunities for the entire Visitacion Valley community. We asked these generous partners what motivates them to help us Build the Hub. Here’s what they said:

“We made a significant financial commitment to the Hub because, after years of involvement in the Sunnydale community, we’re convinced that this project will improve the lives of low-income families and children as much as any I’ve seen in San Francisco.” – Bill Witte and Keiko Sakamoto / Related

“Neighborhood amenities and gathering spaces are important for a community to thrive. We are donors to the Sunnydale Hub because the development of new affordable housing in Sunnydale paired with the Hub will offer families and children in the neighborhood a safe, secure, and vibrant place to play, to learn, and to build community.” – JoAnn and Jack Bertges

“We are proud to be major supporters of the revitalization of San Francisco’s Sunnydale neighborhood. We decided to become donors to the Sunnydale Hub becuase we believe that affordable housing will make a generational difference to youth and families living there.” – Jay and Pat Cahill

“Our family is very proud of the transformative work Mercy Housing is doing. We are honored and touched that we can help improve Sunnydale. We are excited to see what the nect generation will do with the new and exciting services coming in. Thank you, Mercy Housing!” – Howard and Irene Levine Family Foundation

“We believe deeply in the Hub and the Transformational impact of affordable housing in this resilient community, and we proudly support Mercy Housing California’s dynamic neighborhood revitalization at Sunnydale.” – Ellen Jamason and Giacomo Marini

“The Hub will bring much needed community and social services to the Visitacion Valley community, particularly Sunnydale public housing resident who have patiently waiting and long desired for such a gathering space. The Housing Authority of the City and County of San Francisco is excited to be a partner in this innovative project.” – Tonia Lediju, Ph.D., CEO of Housing Authority of the City & County of San Francisco
